About the Poet

Cay Burton has lived on unceded Coast Salish land—specifically the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh territory, or what is colonially known as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada—for four years, having been born and raised on the Blackfoot, Stoney and Tsuut’ina nation land of the city of Calgary. She is currently completing her Undergraduate degree in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with a minor in Family Studies. She also holds a Diploma in Performance Arts from Mount Royal University (MRU). When she is not writing poetry, Cay likes to read, cut things out of paper, be outside, and spend time with her family and friends. She loves cats despite being terribly allergic to them. Cay uses the pronouns she/her/hers.
